Gloucester
Founded in 1792, Gloucester Township initially included some lands east of the Rideau River, along with the region spanning from the Ottawa River south to Manotick. Gloucester took its name from Prince William Frederick, Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh. In 1950, it became one of the first townships established in Ottawa. Gloucester converted to a city in 1981 and then it merged with the city of Ottawa in 2001, along with 10 other communities. This charm-filled and vibrant community is home to more than 114,000 residents.
Gloucester and its neighbourhoods have access to many choices of schools, including Gloucester High School. This high school brags a diverse student body along with various clubs and organizations.
